Gynecomastia (gyno)
Steroids contain artificial hormones like estrogen. When these products
are absorbed into the blood stream, the artificial hormones, through the
process of aromatization, add up to the count of natural estrogen
hormones in the body. In women, this may not be a big issue because it
is estrogen that gives women their sexual characteristics. When men take
steroids rich in estrogens, however, their estrogen levels in the body
rises significantly. This, in turn, leads to development of breasts in
men (gynos in slang).
